Once I discovered the beauty and smooth glide of 4 wheels I haven’t used my 2 wheeled suitcases since. Two wheeled cases tip over sideways easily when juggling other bags and a purse, and a 4 wheeler almost walks along beside me. Love it!

C. Leveille - December 5, 2016

I travel with a 4 wheeler I bought many years ago. For me it is so much easier. The person I recently travelled with used a two wheeler and that is what she likes. My 4 wheeler can easily convert into a two wheeler when I need it and go back to an easy glide when it’s appropriate.

We both use the Canyon Creek packing cubes and we did notice that she had a tiny bit more room in her two wheeler but this “inconscience” for some, does not bother me.

I must add that the way they toss the luggage around, the way the suitcases come down the chute, wheels first, and often hitting the sides of the baggage carousel, I often worry that I will someday find one the wheels broken only because I find they stick out so much, but so far, it’s been good.

I think in the end we both agreed there’s no clear winner of which luggage is the best. There are pluses and minuses for both the two and the 4 wheeler
I guess it depends on each individual travelers preferences.

The nature of your terrain is always the deciding factor. If you wish to “push and glide” than you are definitely a four wheel fanatic. For me the reliability and ease of operation of two wheel over unfamiliar territory will always win out. Remember, if you plan for the worst and hope for the best, two wheels will never let you down.

I must say that I love 4 wheels to feel the liberty of my hands and the sensation that someone is helping me ,,,

J’aime une valise à 4 roues pour diminuer l’effort de “traîner” une valise, surtout si on doit marcher de longues distances. Je privilégie aussi le poids qui devient très important avec les limitations des compagnies aériennes.

I’ve always travelled light with an Eddie Bauer carry on but lately it’s not meeting the size restrictions in some Airlines. I’ve just ordered a Tarmac 20. My husband owns a Load Warrior Int’l carry on and what I can fit in my Eddie Bauer I can fit in the Load Warrior with the pack it system. I was amazed. I prefer two wheelers because the heavier the 4 wheelers got the harder it became to control.

Donna Goodwin - November 15, 2016

I like 4 wheels for the freedom and flexibility. 4 wheel luggage glides easily beside me, I can push it along in any direction, it stands alone without tipping over and, best of all, it can scoot down narrow spaces without having to be lifted!

Bonita - November 15, 2016

I prefer the 2-wheelers as they are easier to control. 4-wheels are good only on smooth surfaces and when you pack light. Otherwise, you are pushing them along.

Bruce Dussault - November 11, 2016

2 wheel all the way! My 2-wheeled Eagle Creek Tarmac luggage (20, 25 & 28) are still in great shape despite extensive travel in Canada, US, Europe and the Middle East for the last 9 years. The many kilometres/miles of cobblestone, gravel, stairs, escalators or rough side-walk have not slowed them down. You just can’t use a 4 wheel system over the uneven terrain and expect them to last.
